Membership Renewal & Points System
To ensure the sustainability of Tambutso Riders and encourage active participation, we’ve introduced a Points System, which will play a key role in retaining your membership.
Earning points through meaningful contributions, like volunteering or participating in valuable events, would be seen as more important than simply accumulating points by attending numerous, less impactful activities. The focus is on making a genuine, positive impact rather than just increasing the points.
This system rewards members for their engagement and contributions while also helping us cover some of the operational costs of running the group. Here’s how it works:
Earning Points
Each member is encouraged to earn a minimum of 24 points per year to maintain or earn a free membership. Below are the ways you can earn points:
- Meetup Place Only (0.5 point)
Being present in official group meet ups, even if you don’t participate in the full planned event, will earn you 0.5 points. - Participating in Official Polls/Surveys (0.5 point)
Engaging in official group polls or surveys is a simple way to earn 0.5 points. - Tambike / Breakfast / Night / Quick Rides (1 point)
Attending any Tambike, breakfast ride, night ride, or quick ride (announced in either OML or OGR, and attended by 3 or more members) will earn you 1 point. - Merit (1 point)
You may be awarded 1 point directly by the President for providing exceptional resources, volunteering, or contributing in other meritorious ways that benefit the group. - Official Group Rides (2 points)
Participating in official group rides will earn you 2 points per event. - Long, Out of City Rides (3 points)
Rides that go beyond the city, such as to Jais, Hafeet, Hatta, Liwa, or similar locations, including Random Act of Kindness events, will earn you 3 points. - Official Tambuto Events (4 points)
Attending official Tambuto events like Grand Eyeball, Anniversary events, or Family Days will earn you 4 points. - Out of Country Rides (5 points)
Participating in out-of-country rides will earn you 5 points.
Earning points depends more on the type of activity than the distance. For example, a Random Act of Kindness ride can earn you 3 points, even if it’s just a kilometer away from you. You can even earn points by answering official polls or surveys on your phone!
Membership Renewal Fee Structure
As always, membership is optional. Members can choose to withdraw or not renew their membership for any reason, regardless of points earned.
- Full Fee Waiver: If a member earns 24 points or more in a year, they will receive a free membership fee valued at AED 200.
- Proportional Fee: For members earning fewer than 24 points, the membership fee will be calculated proportionally based on the points earned. The more points you earn, the lower your fee is. Here’s how it works:
- 18 to 23 points: Pay 25% of the full fee (AED 50) and receive official merchandise worth 30% to 50% of the fee, such as a Coffee Mug or Key Chain.
- 13 to 17 points: Pay 50% of the full fee (AED 100) and receive official merchandise worth 30% to 50% of the fee, such as a Polo Shirt or T-Shirt.
- 7 to 12 points: Pay 75% of the full fee (AED 150) and receive official merchandise worth 30% to 50% of the fee, such as a Jersey.
The remaining fees after covering the cost of merchandise, will be used as funds to support official group rides, projects, and events throughout the year, helping us sustain and grow our community.
Please note that the merchandise provided may change without prior notice. The value of merchandise will not be less than 30% but not more than 50% of the proportional fee paid.
Inactive Members
Members with 0 to 6 points at the end of the year will be considered inactive and have two options:
- Voluntary Withdrawal: They can choose to withdraw their membership voluntarily without paying any fees.
- Review Request: They may apply for a review of their case by January 15th to the committee, who will assess the circumstances and decide whether an exception to reinstate the member status can be made. This could include valid reasons for inactivity, such as personal emergencies, health issues, or other factors that may have limited participation. Fee would be 100% of the full AED 200 and will not include a merchandise.

Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
We’re excited to have you in our community! However, we focus more on the value, impact, and quality of Tambutso Riders than on the number of members. It’s about making a meaningful difference, not just being part of the group.
Yours truly,
Leadership Team
